Which Names of Jesus speak to your heart? Who do you say Jesus is? Let’s get personal – Who is Jesus to YOU?
It will be different for each one of us I would imagine. It depends on our geographical place, our culture, our age and family situation.
There has been one “name” that has been rolling around on my mind for the past couple of months…
The Unspeakable Gift
2 Corinthians 9:15 “Thanks be to God for his Unspeakable Gift”
Unspeakable is the greek word anekdiegetos – which is describing the type of Gift that Jesus is. Until this year, I had not taken the time to consider Jesus as a gift to me and to the world. God’s Love Gift to us.
Anekdiegetos means something or someone that can’t be described – words just fail. Some translations of the Bible have other words instead of “unspeakable”, like – “inexpressible gift” or “indescribable gift”, or “a gift too wonderful for words”.
Sometimes there are just no words that can describe who Jesus is – He is that lovely. He is that majestic. Sometimes, after you have had an encounter with Him and someone asks you – “What just happened to you?” – there are no words.
How do you describe a God encounter? I have tried and failed. Maybe because Jesus is the personal God. He relates to each individual in a unique way. That blows my mind that He can relate to everyone that is living now and everyone that has ever lived and will ever live, in an unique way to that individual – but then again, He is El Shaddai – God Almighty.
