I used to think that it was NOT OK to seek the glory of God.
Maybe it was my brethren church upbringing. But when God’s glory was mentioned people assumed you were speaking about some strange supernatural experience.
But as we saw on Day 1 of this series – the whole earth is full of God’s glory according to Isaiah 6:3. So God ‘s glory is naturally everywhere we look, think, see and feel!
Jesus said “How can you believe, when you seek the glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God.” John 5:44
Ah now that is a good verse to know – Jesus says that it is OK to seek the glory that comes from the only God.
What is NOT OK is seeking the glory from one another. According to Jesus that kind of seeking glory stops true belief in it’s tracks.
I suspect that there is something very important about this verse. Am I seeking the glory of other people?

If I desire a strong bold faith in God.
A faith that is vibrant and alive…
..seeking glory or praise from people will have to stop.
I think we probably all seek glory from people, even unconsciously. But we have to become more conscious of our intentions and motivations.
I wonder if seeking God’s glory in my everyday messy life will help with not seeking other glory.
Dear God
Thank you for your glory that fills the earth.
Please help me to seek your glory and not the glory of others.
In Jesus’ Name I ask – Amen – so be it!
I would love to hear how you discover God in your messy real everyday life too – please leave a comment

Thanks Claudine for your encouragement!
I’ve never thought much about this, but I do seek glory from others and I will be much more conscious about it now. Thanks so much for the “food for thought”. I think the messier life gets for me the more I seek Him. I need to remember to seek Him when all is well.
Hi Candy
Thanks for your comment. Yes, I need to be constantly aware of what glory I am seeking – God’s or my own.
