It’s a new day and a new year!
Let’s dwell on hope, newness, life, joy and bundles of peace! Is there an amen?
“For I am about to do something new, See I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness, I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. “Isaiah 43:19
To be honest, I struggled in 2021. Did you?
I know that I didn’t need to, but I allowed the covidness (yep not a word but it sounds cool) of 2021 to crowd out what God was desiring to do in and through me. I don’t want a repeat in 2022.
I want to remain cool, calm and collected even in the midst of bad news or restrictions to my freedoms.
We have all the resources in Christ to live a life filled with wonder, love, peace and joy regardless of world events or restrictions. Amen?
I know that I need to regularly preach to myself otherwise the negative voices will take over and the Shepherd’s calming voice will be pushed to one side.
When I think of 2022, I can see us standing in a doorway, peering out to the vista beyond, with one foot raised, ready to cross the threshold and move forward into something new.
I feel that I have personally been sitting in this threshold space for 2 years.
- Two of my sons have “kind of” left home and daily practices are changing to fit the decrease in the household.
- Ponderings and prayers about my role in God’s church has kept me in the threshold spot.
- Questions about our place geographically are also swirling around.
The threshold space is unsettling and full of ponderings (love that word!), prayers and perplexities.
There are questions with no answers and… …sometimes it’s a lonely place if we try and do life on our own. Do you feel that too? But if we hang in there, with an expectation to see God’s goodness in the land of the living” (Psalm 27:13) we will end up with an open doorway and an invitation to cross the threshold into something new.
It’s scary in the threshold space.
Do we cling to the old ways and hope things will change?
Or do we place our trust fully into God’s hands and allow Him to direct our paths into new ways of doing, living and being?
Will you join me in stepping over the threshold and into God’s 2022 path for our lives?
A life that continues to remain on the safe side of its own habits and repetitions, that never engages with the risk of its own possibility remains an unlived life.

We often linger for years in spaces that are too small and shabby for the grandeur of our spirit.
