In Level 4 Lockdown, life takes on a different hue, doesn’t it?
My city is still in Level 4 Lockdown (no movement unless you are going to the supermarket, petrol station or medical services) and my mind seems to have more space to think and imagine.
Questions are asked.
Why am I doing this work?
Is it all worthwhile?
Why do I live in this city?
Is there more?
Where is God?
It is so sad that it takes a lockdown scenario to take a pause on life.
Why do we get caught up in the busyness of life?
We become so in tune with society, culture and environment that we miss God and our soul’s need for Him.
We think other things can fill our souls. Entertainment. Food. People. Exercise. News. But do they?
Most of the time, without knowing it, our souls are missing God.
Check out these verses about Jesus:
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Colossians 1:16-17 ESV
We forget God. We forget Jesus. We forget the Spirit.
Our souls are missing God.
The Message translation says that everything got started in Jesus and finds its purpose in him. That is something to remember. Daily.
We need to be intentionally recalibrating our souls to God. Daily. Each Moment.
This moment right now, was started in Jesus.
This moment right now, finds its purpose in Him.
It’s all about Him. Every minute of every day.
Every job we do.
Every dollar we earn.
Every home that we live in.
Every person we meet.
Every thought we have.
Every dream.
It’s all about Him.
How do we miss it?
We get distracted, just like Martha did. She missed it.
But Mary didn’t. She lived in the moment, with Jesus.
(You can read their story in Luke 10:38-42.)
Let’s be determined, intentional people this week.
Let’s not miss God.
Let’s live in the moment with Jesus.
Let’s pray. Always.
Let’s walk with our eyes open wide in expectation to see God working and be willing to partner with him.
Let’s seek his face.
Let’s ponder his words.
Let’s immerse ourselves in the Kingdom and not let the world suck us in.
Let’s keep this space open that lockdowns have provided.
Let’s not rush back to normal life but allow God to shape us, mould us into his image.
Time and Space.
Let’s give it back to God.
It’s his to begin with.
It all started with Jesus and it will all find its purpose in Jesus.
AMEN.
