Guess what?! As I write this on Thursday 5th Nov in NZ, there is only 50 days till Christmas!
What a year we have all had. It’s been a doozy.
It is so easy, in such a year as we have all had, to lose vision.
Do you feel that way too?
Plans made at the beginning of the year, cancelled then re-activated then cancelled again. Some of us can’t make any plans because lockdowns are still happening or threatening to happen. We are all in a state of limbo, not sure of what is going to happen. It is hard to keep hold of a vision for our lives when nothing seems to be firm under our feet.
But in this state, I believe we can ask God for a fresh vision.
I did just that the other day when I realised my soul seemed like it was floating, just getting by, when I wanted to thrive.
So I asked God for a fresh vision for my life and my family until Christmas. Yes, that is as far as I can think of at the moment. Which is unusual for me. I am a future thinker. But right now, in this 2020 COVID world, 50 days is a very long time.
What God gave me was three separate visions for the next 50 days.
- Family Fun
- “Light & Strong” Health
- Daily Surprised by God’s Love
These three “50 Day Visions” are like broad brush strokes on canvas.
These will impact how I make any decisions in the next 50 days. It is so comforting and freeing to have a over arching guideline for what I want my life to look like from now to Christmas.
If, on the 25th December when I look back over the last couple of months and I can say that our family has grown closer, laughed and enjoyed each other -then that is a win. If I feel light and strong then it’s been all worth it. And when I read over my journal entries recording God’s daily love gifts to me, I will be content.
I am now looking for ways to bring these three visions to life. Where can I see God’s love today?
What can I implement today that will foster family fun?
What tiny change can I make now that will bring a “light & strong” health to my body and soul?
Friend, Now it is your turn. Ask God for a fresh vision today. The above three visions are mine – seek God for a fresh vision, mindset, hope or dream for yourself.
What does he want you to do,
think,
change,
dream,
create,
discard,
achieve,
embrace,
declutter
or hunger for?
Take time out today to ponder on this verse:
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a New Thing! Now it springs up; I am making a way in the desert and stream in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19
Oh, by the way, the vision of being daily surprised by God’s love is for everyone. When we are on the look out for God’s love, the unseen becomes seen and the invisible becomes visible – we just need to become aware of what God places in front of us.
He is a caring parent who loves to drop in on your day to tell you how much he cares and notices you.
Here are some of the ways God has surprised me lately:
~~One morning I read Zephaniah 3:17 where it says that God will rejoice over me with loud singing. Then I went on a walk and all of a sudden there were birds everywhere right above my head, singing their little hearts out. My mind instantly recalled Zep 3:17 and boom! God surprised me with his love in that moment.
~~On another morning walk I came across a mama duck in the pond with 12 teeny tiny ducklings. I have never seen so many with one mama duck. God knows that I love to see cute ducklings and he decided that morning that I needed a moment to stop and smile so he placed a whole collection of cuties right in my path. Everyday since then, I have been on the look out for them and have not seen them since. Interesting.
How do you notice God during your day?
Start your own collection of noticings.
They fill your heart with hope and create a contented soul.
Keep Leaning into Him!
