I don’t really know what to say in response to the events in the USA this week.
It saddens me.
That people don’t love people.
It shocks me.
That society hasn’t taken steps to heal the hurt.
It concerns me.
That the fringes take this as a opportunity for gain at the expense of ordinary hardworking people.
It annoys me.
That influencers use this to increase their followings.
What does our Heavenly Father feel about the injustice?
about the destruction?
about the apathy?
about the grandstanding?
about the judgements?
about the hate?
While suffering intense pain and blood loss, Jesus prayed, ” Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)
The Fathers generous grace and unfailing love covers all this and more.
God’s unfailing love trumps colour.
God’s uncontested justice overcomes evil and violence.
God’s abounding grace covers all wrongs.
There are so many angles and points of view but I wonder what outcome we would arrive at if we see through God’s eyes of love?
His love towards the victims.
His love towards the police officers.
His love towards the protesters.
His love towards the rioters.
His love towards the politicians.
His love towards the media.
His love towards you.
Romans 2:11 says “ For God does not show favouritism” (NIV).
In what does God show no favouritism? ” There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, but glory and honour and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (NASB Rom 2:9-10)
Consequences in life and death. Same for everyone.
John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son.”
Deeply loved by God. Same for everyone.
What if we did the only one thing that we can do, right now, to ask the Father for new eyes, to see people through his lens of love?
Keep leaning into Him…
