I am going to start off our time in this space with a very interesting quote – it will make you think…
“On the healing journey, our stuff will emerge. God allows our hurts to surface at precisely the right time (when He knows we’re ready). With every new layer of need, He shows us a fresh revelation of Himself, and with it, the opportunity to know a new depth of wholeness in Him.” Susie Larsen from the book “Fully Alive” (see resource at bottom of email)
What do you think? Have you found it to be true for you?
I mentioned last week (if you missed it here is the link) that I am on a pilgrimage of inner healing by moving closer to the heart of God. We are all on a pilgrimage. This quote reminded me that God conducts his healing in layers.
If you have been a reader of my weekly emails and blog articles for a while you would have read the many times I struggled with worry and fear. That was a layer that God was working on for me over the past couple of years (he isn’t finished yet – always an ongoing process but I am further along the journey than I was 2 years ago, amen!). This year, it seems the layer He is gently healing is self doubt and discouragement.
What about you? Take time out to review your recent past – is there a layer of healing God is doing in your life?
We can either be part of the healing process and learn to surrender the issues that God surfaces and allow it to grow our faith OR we can try and hold on to all our layers and hide the person that God wants to bring forth. What are you doing…surrendering or hiding?
Here is a verse to ponder on this week…..
“Thus says the Lord: Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said. “We will not walk in it”. ” Jeremiah 6:16 ESV
Take this verse to God and ask Him – am I someone who is saying ” I will not walk through the healing journey” OR are you searching for that Soul Rest?.
Are you are standing by the roads?.
Are you are looking and asking for the ancient paths?
Do you want to find the good way?
It takes courage to stand, look, ask and walk in God’s ancient ways.
It usually involves some form of self denial and refining.
It will be uncomfortable. Maybe even irritating.
But it is all worth it to gain rest for your soul.
Feedback: Please take the time to comment below or use the contact me form if it has been of help to you. What layers has God removed from your soul? What is He currently dealing with and how are you leaning into Him?
Keep Leaning into God

This Week’s Resources
BOOK “Fully Alive: Learning to Flourish – Mind, Body & Spirit” by Susie Larson. I have been picking this book up and down for the past couple of months and every time I pick it up I receive an “aha” moment/revelation from God. It is full of practical truth and good deep questions to bring you back to connecting with God. I may have to purchase my own copy (using the library’s one for the moment).
