There are times in my life when I ache inside. I feel there is something missing. I see a lack in an area of my life and it causes me to be dissatisfied and discontented. Ever been there? I have and sometimes on a daily basis!
What do you feel you are lacking?
- lacking that healthy energetic feeling that comes from eating and moving well
- loss of a friend of loved one
- lack of finances
- lack of vision or purpose
- repeated cycles of trying and failing
- lack of peace in times of stress
- lack of skills or resources to do something
- lack of knowledge
- lack of ideas
- lack of the right connections
- lack of wisdom and discernment for that next right step
Oh, the list could go on and on. I call them Soul Holes. Some can be large and other times the ache is a teeny tiny feeling that you just can’t shake. God has an answer to our soul holes and the perceived lack in our lives. I say “perceived” because in Kingdom Reality, sons and daughters of the King of Kings don’t live in lack.
The righteous has enough to satisfy his appetite but the belly of the wicked suffers want. Proverbs 13:25 ESV
Are you looking in the right place?
This is a question that I know that I need to regularly ask myself when that ache of lack enters in – Am I looking in the right place for my ache of lack?
Comfort food will not bring the peace we need when stressed.
Worry does not supply any perceived lack of finances.
Giving up does not achieve the goal.
Addictions just keep tying us up and keeping us from our full potential.
The Right Place to Look
Here’s the verse for your week – meditate on this and draw out everything that God wants to speak into your life.
His divine power has granted us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:3 ESV
We have everything we need. Everything we need for living a healthy life. Everything we need to make decisions. Everything we need to feel safe. Everything we need to live with purpose and meaning. Everything we need for growing spiritually, mentally and emotionally. We. Have. Everything. We. Need.
Believe this today. Where is the source of everything we need? Inside! God has deposited it inside of our human bodies. His Spirit inside is our go-to resource. He speaks. We listen and learn. He strengthens. He gives peace. He leads us to right connections and the next steps to take. He comforts after loss. His goodness has been lavished on us. Our part in this equation is to become aware of God’s goodness and provision for our lack. To perceive it with eyes of faith. What we see with our natural human eyes may look like lack but that is what is seen. What is seen is temporary but what is unseen is eternal (2 Cor 4:18).
Here are a couple more verses to dwell on this week: (remember God’s words are powerful!)
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 2 Cor 9:8 ESV
(Jesus speaking) Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is no life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Matt 6:25 ESV
AMEN!
Action Step: Make it your aim this week to identify your feelings of lack in the moment and bring them to God. Believe that God has already deposited what you need in that moment, inside of you via His Spirit. Allow His presence, peace, teaching, comfort, guidance be your go-to resource to fill your soul holes. Give what you can to God and watch him multiply it just like the loaves and fishes story.
I would love to hear your feedback on changing our lack mindset into one of life with God ..comment below and share your thoughts – I always reply!
Lean in to all God has for you this week…in order to finish 2018 well!
