I woke up this morning overwhelmed with life – have you ever done that?
Life feels unordered. Vision and purpose are missing. Goals are absent. Time with God is being squeezed out. Days becoming filled with mindless dribble.
I took all of this to the Lord – that’s always a good starting place for transformation.
God made it clear to me what the problem was and I realised that He had been speaking it to me over the last couple of weeks. Sometimes we need to hear it over and over again don’t we?
Here’s what God said and I believe it is a word for all of us right now, Rachel, you need to run your race! I have a unique path for you to travel with tasks that I have prepared for you to carry out, that bring me glory. Don’t look to other race tracks – they have been uniquely prepared for my other children. Keep your focus on Me and I will reveal your next step to take and the next right decision to make.
Leave all the worries, burdens, hurts and distractions behind. They are only weighing you down, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Take my provisions – I have packed what you need – it’s a light burden not heavy or ill fitting but one designed for you to carry (Matthew 11:30)
In this race there are batons that will be passed to you, specific tasks that I have designed with you in mind. Be alert, be listening to my voice and accept these batons with joy. Don’t worry about what you think you can and can’t do. With me, all things are possible. I don’t want you to be running this race in your own strength and energy. I have provided everything you need to run this race and carry that baton (2 Peter 1:3).
I may call you to carry out what seems to be an impossible difficult task. Don’t discount my leading because it appears difficult. Don’t think that you have heard wrong because the task seems impossible. I gave Noah the seemingly impossible task of building a giant boat and guiding the planets animals inside – it took one hundred years. I gave Moses the impossible task of leading over two million slaves to freedom – it took forty years. I gave David the task to kill a nine metre tall giant with just a river stone. These all seem like impossible tasks to do but I had Noah, Moses and David in mind for them. And I have you in mind for tasks that I have prepared beforehand.
You are connected with Me through faith which is a gift that I have given to you.I am working in you today. You are My masterpiece, My workmanship, My creation.Everything good in you was produced by Me. It’s all my working in you. So, it’s time to surrender to this work that I am doing in you. And walk out, make progress on the path that I have placed you on.
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Works = business, employment, anything accomplished my hand – art, industry, mind, actions, deeds, ideas
Walk = to make one’s way, progress, to make use of opportunities.
Friend, God has prepared a path for you to take today. He has prepared something for you to progress in today, some opportunity to take on. The goal is giving glory to Him only because this path we take, this race we run, this baton we carry is all done through Jesus’ power working in us – not our own energy or initiative but it’s all God. This task really needs to be impossible when you think about it. If it wasn’t we wouldn’t need to rely on Him to get it done.
I so, want to share the next part but I need to leave it to next time.
In the meantime, this week,
- bring your heart and life back to God, back to the starting point of the race.
- Let go of your way of running this race and pick up God’s program.
- Ask yourself these questions (take time out to think, pray and journal)
- Am I comparing my race to someone else?
- Has God given me an impossible task in the past and I have discounted it?
- Is my focus truly on Him? Do I go to Him first for the next right thing to do?
- Am I boasting in what I can do and not realising that it’s all about Him?
- Am I making progress (through God) in my life or am I sitting at the starting line having a pity party?
God uses the ordinary in life to do the extraordinary (I talk all about this in my book –“Simple Prayer: The Guide for Ordinary People Seeking the Extraordinary”)
I would love to hear your feedback on the race that God has for you to run, the baton that he wants you to carry – ..comment below or join the discussion on Facebook
Lean in to all God has for you this week…in order to finish 2018 well!
Rachel
