“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25 KJV
Our reality in Christ as a believer is a state of living in the Spirit. Praise God! We are never away from His presence. He is Emmanuel. God is with us, forever. That is our state of being once we become a true believer. Is that your state, right now?
BUT We are designed not to just live in the Spirit but to walk in the Spirit.
…To grow and mature spiritually.
…To bring forth what is stored in our hearts. (Luke 6:45)
…To shine like a light on a hill. (Matthew 5:16)
…To walk out our salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12)
…To keep being effective and productive in our knowledge of Jesus. (2 Peter 1:5-8)
…To display the fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23)
When we walk in the Spirit we activate what the Spirit of God is doing inside of us. We are carrying out the salvation of our whole self… spirit, soul (mind, will & emotions) and body.
7 Day Devotional on Living from the Inside Out
Let’s focus this week on how God designed His Spirit to work in our lives.
Each day there is a scripture verse on your inside life (the Godhead – Father, Son and Holy Spirit) affecting your outside life (soul, body, relationships).Take 5 minutes each day to…
- Pray and ask God to speak life to you.
- Write the day’s verse in your journal or on a piece of paper. Read the surrounding verses.
- Look up other translations of the same verse. If anything sticks out to you – write it down also. You can use BibleGateway.com to help.
- Ponder the questions and the verse throughout the day. Speak to God about it. What does He want you to learn from it. How does it apply to your day?
- At the end of the day, note down what you have learned about living and walking in the Spirit.
- Join the conversation over at my Facebook page starting on Sunday.
Day One: Living Waters Flowing from Inside Out
“He who believes in Me [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Me], as the Scripture has said, “From his innermost being will flow continually rivers of living water.” John 7:38 AMP
- Can people see what is flowing from your heart?
- Is it living water that soothes, heals and builds up?
- How much believing, relying, trusting (on God and not on yourself) is happening throughout your day?
Day Two: The Abundance of the Heart Speaks Out
“The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45 ESV
- What is the treasure of your heart?
- Is there an abundance there?
- Analyse your speech today
Day Three: What do you Treasure?
“For where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires;that on which your life centers] will be also.” Matthew 6:21 AMP
- What or who do you center your life on?
- Analyse your wishes and desires – are they in line with what God wants?
Day Four: Word of Christ Living in You
“Let the [spoken] word of Christ have its home within you [dwelling in your heart and mind – permeating every aspect of your being] as you teach [spiritual things] and admonish and train one another with all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16 AMP
- Are you daily digesting the Word of God?
- Do you have an outlet for sharing what God has been storing up inside you?
Day Five: Our Life Goal – Sanctification from the Inside Out
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [that is, separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you pure and whole and undamaged – consecrated to Him – set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete and [be found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 AMP
- What does God use to sanctify you through and through?
- What specifically does God want you to be separated from today?
Day Six: Another Life Goal – Christ Formed in Us
“My little children, for whom I am again in [the pains of ] labor until Christ is [completely and permanently] formed within you – ” Galatians 4:19 AMP
- Think about the growing process of a child to an adult and relate that to your Christian walk
- What does it mean to have Christ formed within you?
Day Seven: What’s Going On Inside Affects Our Outside
“Therefore my heart is glad and my glory [my innermost self] rejoices; My body too will dwell ]confidently] in safety.” Psalm 16:9 AMP
- What is happening on the inside in this verse?
- How is that affecting the outside (body)?
- How does this truth affect your day?
Father God, thank you for your indwelling eternal presence inside. Help me to walk AND live in and from your presence today.
But, I will walk in the Spirit today!
