So I mentioned Cain and Abel yesterday.
To recap -Abel and his sacrifice was accepted by God because he lived by faith.
On my journey to seeing God turn up in my messy real life – to see Him working – to see His glory – I have discovered that my faith needs to give God room to work.
It is so easy to have a preconceived idea on what God’s working is going to look like.
I don’t think we can put God in a box and label it – this is how God will work today.
I am probably limiting God’s work in my life if I do.
He is infinitely more knowledgeable and wise than I am.
It makes the journey of life more exciting to recognise God turning up in the most unexpected ways.
Here is something to ponder -how did Cain and Abel’s story end?…
…the good guy (Abel) dies at the hand of his brother!
We tend to gloss over that ending, don’t we?
We want endings that are all nice, tidy and COMFORTABLE.
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world. [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] – John 16:33 AMP
Jesus didn’t promise us a smooth ride. He admitted that we will have trouble – distress – suffering – vomiting bugs.
He did promise us peace and His presence.
…be sure of this – I am with you always, even to the end of the age – Matthew 28:20
I have decided that I want my sons to leave home knowing that whatever happens to them – vomiting bugs, financial stress, relationship breakups, difficult people – that God’s peace and presence is all that they need.
We can have absolute faith and confidence in God’s peace and presence.
Dear God,
Thank you for your promise of your peace and presence.
I pray that myself and my family will experience your peace and presence today.
in the name of Jesus, amen so be it.
I would love to hear how you discover God in your messy real everyday life too
