Here’s the bottom line – if we want to see God show up in our messy real lives – we need to pray. Bottom line.
When I was younger, my concept of praying was sitting on my knees for hours at a time – before the sun come up, of course.
It concerned me as a teenager that I wasn’t spending hours everyday.
Until one day, I received a little glow in the dark cross picture which I tacked to the wall opposite my bed.
Every night, once the lights were out, I would lie in bed staring at the cross. That’s when I prayed.
It was a great reminder – it felt like God was with me.
My glow in the dark cross is long gone. But my habit of ending the day talking to God still continues.
Usually I fall asleep while I am praying. I am sure that God doesn’t mind at all.
Instead of worrying about praying for hours – I weave prayer throughout my hours.
If we truly desire to see God turn up in our messy real lives – praying is vital.
Praying opens up our eyes to see God working.
Praying reveals God’s glory.
Dear God,
Thank you for listening to me. Please help me to remember to talk to you in the moments of my day.
Reveal your glory. Let me see you working in my real messy life.
In the name of Jesus, Amen – so be it.
I would love to hear how you discover God in your messy real everyday life too – please leave a comment
