The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so it is everyone who is born of the Spirit. John 3:8
Sometimes Jesus talked in circles or mysteries – I find this when I read the account of the secret night meeting between Jesus and Nicodemus in John 3.
Jesus was opening up Nic’s mind to the reality of the spirit life. He compares the spirit life to the wind. We can’t see wind but we know it is there.
It is the same with my little experiment of finding God’s glory and His working in my daily life.
Sometimes it is hidden like wind – I can’t see it but I know it is there.
Nic still didn’t really get it even though Jesus used the concept of an earthly thing (the wind) to describe the heavenly thing (the Spirit).
Jesus said to Nic – If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? John 3:12
I have to be careful not only look for something physical in my day that shows me God’s glory or His workings – earthly things. But also preceive God’s glory and workings in the spiritual dimension – heavenly things.
Father God, please help me to become heavenly minded and sighted
so that I can know and see you working and your glory in earthly and heavenly things.
In Jesus’ name, Amen – so be it!
I would love to hear how you discover God in your messy real everyday life too – please leave a comment
