God is the master organiser of coincidences!
Here I am starting a 31 Day Challenge series on seeing God’s glory and His workings in our real messy daily lives and what do I read in my morning devotions?
When you come across a coincidence – don’t just brush it off as life – it’s God manifesting His glory! It’s God working behind the scenes.
Jesus manifested His glory and his disciples believed in Him. John 2:11
So black and white isn’t it? Just jumped right off the page. I did a little chuckle to myself. Okay God – that’s good to know that I am on the right track.
What’s the context for this verse – the very first miracle that Jesus did – turning water into wine.
He manifested His glory when a group of people ran out of wine to drink at a wedding. That’s real and messy right there!
Have you ever thought of asking God to help out when you run out of something and you can’t get to the store? Jesus’ mum did!
God’s glory and working = He fills when we run out
The thing that struck me though with this story is that we tend to look for the thing that we have run out of and search for that – the wine. But Jesus used something else and turned it into what they needed.
So my eyes need to be searching for what God can use to turn into something that I need. Actually that seems to be a bit of a theme running through the book of John – didn’t Jesus use the small boy with the fish and bread to feed a whole bunch of people! and what about the fish Jesus used to hold the coin needed to pay the taxes?
Hi God,
Please open my eyes today to what I have that you can turn into something good for other people.
Show me your glory in the earth and where you are working as I walk through my day.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen , so be it.
I would love to hear how you discover God in your messy real everyday life too – please leave a comment
